I look forward to my visit every single week. They’ve become just like family.
Social isolation from family, friends, and culture can hinder good physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing. Catholic Healthcare is here to help you improve your quality of life through our free volunteer programs.
Friendly volunteers can provide companionship and friendship through in-home visits or social chats over the phone at a frequency and time that suits you best. We understand how beneficial personal connections can be, whether it’s taking part in enjoyable social activities, or just knowing that someone is popping in to spend time with you.
Home Visiting Program
Love an extra visitor at home? Join this program for a regular home visit from a friendly volunteer. Have morning tea together, read the paper, discuss family news, have a walk around the backyard, or visit a local café and more!
Visits are available to anyone who receives government-subsidised residential aged care or Home Care Packages as per the Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS).
The AVCCS focuses on the needs of older people at higher risk of feeling isolated, including the special needs groups under the Aged Care Act 1997.
