Colour my world

The world has become brighter for Villa Maria Eastern Heights Memory Support Unit residents.

An innovative redesign of the outdoor area by hardworking employees has made this space a wonderful, supportive environment for residents and their families to enjoy.

From an underutilised and unstimulating green space to an activity-rich social environment, residents are enjoying soaking up the sunshine and fresh air while listening to the gentle sounds of the newly installed water feature. The great shady tree provides a place to reminisce and relax.

Pitch-and-putt golf offers opportunities for movement, while elevated garden beds and a new potting shed encourage residents to pursue their love of gardening. Vibrant, colourful murals provide an engaging backdrop for these enriching activities.

‘This is the beginning of great things for our memory support units across our homes,’ said senior wellbeing and leisure manager, Kath Nicholls.

‘We are encouraging and supporting innovation to be used and ideas to be implemented so that all our residents are enabled to thrive,’ she said.
