Reaching Out - Pastoral Care Conference 2021

Catholic Healthcare’s pastoral and palliative care specialists gathered to attend the Pastoral Care Online Conference 2021 - Reaching Out. The conference takes place every two years and is normally held in person, but was held via Zoom this year. Over 120 participants attended, including those who work in pastoral care and palliative care. The conference began with a welcome message and reflection from Andrew, Director of Mission.

A Life Dedicated to Service

Sr Farrell touched the lives of many including family, students and their parents, church parishioners, friends and her religious community, and maintained contact with many of them, including some that she taught in primary school. She had a placid, compassionate and friendly demeanour and was easy to like. She had an innate ability to befriend those she met and fulfilled her lifelong wish to be ‘helping somebody’.

Honouring the past at MacKillop House

Catholic Healthcare’s newest Residential Aged Care Home, MacKillop House, will be opening in November. Situated in leafy Norwest, MacKillop House offers permanent, respite and palliative care as well as a dedicated dementia support wing, catering for up to 104 residents.

Catholic Healthcare’s Volunteer Phone Call Service provides additional support for Home Care clients who are experiencing social isolation. The complimentary service has now been expanded into regional New South Wales and south-east Queensland, after operating successfully in Sydney for 12 years.
