Mother's Day 2024

Mother’s Day is a time to honour the unique bond between a mother and her child and to celebrate the legacy of love and care continued by mothers around the world.

‘The moment a first child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before.
The woman existed, but the mother never. A mother
is something absolutely new. And so, in you, the child, your mother
lives on, and through your family, she continues to live. So, at this
time, look after yourself and your family as you would your mother,
for through you all, she truly never dies.’ Osho

For all the mothers in our care, the day was celebrated in style. McQuoin Park put on a special program that included a Mother's Day Mini Market and a Dance Tutor!

The mini market proved a big success, with local vendors providing beautiful baked goods, books, handmade craft items, candles, and more for the residents and their families. Married couple Pat and Jane McGirr got the chance to 'dance together' with encouragement from Charles, The Dance Tutor, and his assistant, Candy. The experience brought big smiles to the couple's faces and many tears of joy from all those watching them.

I have loved you with an everlasting love. Jeremiah 31:3

At St Francis Orange, residents were encouraged to reminisce and share heartfelt memories of their own mothers over tea served in fancy, fine-bone china cups. Beautifully presented roses were given to each resident to brighten their day.

There were smiles all around at Villa Maria Fortitude Valley as the residents listened to the beautiful sounds of music coming from the guest harpist as they excitedly opened their Mother’s Day gifts.

Catholic Healthcare celebrates all mothers and those in our care on Mother’s Day 2024!
