In preparation for ANZAC Day, the Blue Mountains Gazette visited Bodington Aged Care Home in Wentworth Falls, to meet with resident Joan Noonan.
For years, Joan joined ANZAC Day marches, wearing the medals of her late husband Dick Noonan, who served in the Royal Navy and was awarded three medals for heroism in Malta during World War Two.
The 25 April is a day for Joan to remember her husband, and her father, who was killed in World War Two while serving with the merchant navy.
Bodington residents can choose to watch the Dawn Service which will be televised by ABC TV at 6am. Bodington will also have a small outdoor service and morning tea.
