Catholic Healthcare has announced its plans to close St Francis Aged Care in Grafton, which is no longer suitable for the future care needs of the community.
Catholic Healthcare is working with residents and their families to find suitable accommodation at other Catholic Healthcare homes or with other providers in the local area. Supporting residents, their families and our employees is the priority.
The home will not formally close until all residents have secured suitable accommodation. Regular updates will be provided to residents and families throughout this period.
‘The decision to close the home was a difficult one, but unavoidable. Due to the age of the building and the layout of rooms and facilities, St Francis Grafton is no longer suited to providing the standard of contemporary residential aged care that residents deserve, particularly as their needs grow. It cannot meet the community's future care needs,’ said Deborah Karam, Catholic Healthcare’s Chief Residential Officer.
Alternative employment will be offered to as many St Francis team members as possible within the Catholic Healthcare network. If redeployment within Catholic Healthcare is not possible, Catholic Healthcare will offer redundancy, support, and outplacement services.
‘We recognise how difficult this time is for residents, families, employees and the wider St Francis community. Our commitment is to support every resident through their transition to a new home.’ said Ms Karam.
