Study is the key to success

St John’s Villa New Lambton Lifestyle Coordinator, Aymon Jones, consistently seeks ways to better serve residents.

Whether hiring and driving a bus for social outings, escorting residents to Bunnings to indulge their passion for gardening or organising an intergenerational program between the nearby preschool and the local primary school to visit, Aymon finds great joy in helping residents live their best lives.

His dedication prompted his regional manager to encourage him to apply for Catholic Healthcare’s Scholarship Program, where he enrolled in a Certificate IV in Leisure and Health.

Catholic Healthcare offers up to $2,500 annually in fee reimbursement for permanent employees pursuing Aged Care courses through its scholarship program.

‘The leisure and health course has been essential for my current role in Lifestyle, giving me the skills and qualifications needed to continue delivering high-quality, person-centred programs for our residents,’ said Aymon.

Aymon has now successfully completed the course.

‘The support I received from Catholic Healthcare was incredible throughout my studies. I dedicated around two hours each afternoon to study, and once a week, we had an engaging online class with our teacher, who was fantastic,’ said Aymon.

The encouragement and flexibility of his team and management made balancing work and study easier. With this qualification, Aymon plans to continue his studies and build on his skills to progress within Catholic Healthcare.

‘I aspire to one day manage multiple homes within the Lifestyle department. Continuing to learn and develop is something I’m very passionate about,’ he said.

Reflecting on his 13 years with Catholic Healthcare, Aymon described them as ‘absolutely fantastic’.

‘I’m so grateful to be part of an organisation that truly supports its people and offers opportunities for growth. I’m especially thankful to Catholic Healthcare for giving me the chance to complete this course and for the ongoing encouragement throughout my career’.
