MacKillop House Norwest featured on Channel 10’s The Dog House Australia

It was exciting to see our very own MacKillop House Norwest feature on Channel 10’s The Dog House Australia, to find a new four-legged friend. The Dog House Australia is a heart-warming television series, matching rescue dogs from the Animal Welfare League New South Wales with families in search of their pawfect pet.

The idea to register for the series came about from MacKillop House Pastoral Care Coordinator, Fiona Smith. “We knew that having a dog in our place would make it feel more like a family,” says Fiona. Previous visits from dogs to MacKillop House “instantly changed the atmosphere… and brought residents together,” she added.

Fiona, former MacKillop House Residential Manager, Rae and MacKillop House resident, Colleen appeared on the show to select a dog for the residents of MacKillop House.

Given the excitement and anticipation from residents, selecting the right dog was not going to be an easy task!

Pleasingly, a match was made and Doug the dog became MacKillop House Norwest’s newest resident. You can watch the episode here (season 3, episode 7) and if you are short on time, the MacKillop House footage starts at 29:35.
