Former Catholic Healthcare Trustee, Sister Mary Comer RSJ, receives OAM

On behalf of Catholic Healthcare, our employees, residents and clients, we congratulate our former Trustee, Sr Mary Comer RSJ, who received an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in this year’s Australia Day honours list for service to the community.

Sr Mary was appointed as Catholic Healthcare’s Members’ Representative for the Sisters of St Joseph in November 2005 and was elected as a Trustee of Catholic Healthcare in 2012 where she served diligently until 2021. Sr Mary remains a staunch advocate for our residents and the ministry of Catholic Healthcare.

The OAM also recognised Sr Mary for founding Centacare in the Diocese of Bathurst in 1988. Today, with more than 100 staff, Centacare continues to provide a range of social welfare services to children and families across the region.  We celebrate and appreciate Sr Mary’s contribution to people’s lives, both professionally as a psychologist and as a Sister of Mercy. Recently, Bathurst City Council named Sr Mary as a Bathurst Living Legend for her services to the community.

Congratulations to Sr Mary on this well deserved recognition.

Sister Mary Comer
