Celebrating Aged Care Employee Day!

Aged Care Employee Day was a big celebration across Catholic Healthcare, with staff receiving flowers and treats as well as Homes organising their own fun activities, thank you breakfasts and BBQs.

At Jemalong Residential Village in Forbes, the day began with breakfast picnic packs distributed to the hard-working nightshift staff. This was followed by party games which generated a fair amount of laughter, and even stirred up some devious ways to get a competitive advantage among the team! The fun continued with a delicious BBQ lunch organised by staff, and a special lolly bar full of sweet favourites.

"I had a wonderful time and I am grateful to the staff here for organising the activities and for cooking a delicious BBQ lunch. Overall, it was a brilliant day and I really felt acknowledged,” says Sharon, Enrolled Nurse at Jemalong.

Over at Brigidine House in Randwick, the celebrations went off with a bang and there were some thoughtful activities organised for the day, including ‘thank you’ cards.

“I wrote to all the families of the residents and asked them to send in messages of support for the staff. I plan to print them out and put them in the staffroom,” says Tmne, Recreational Activities Officer.

“I don’t normally work on Fridays, but I did this week so I could make a special cake and bring it in to share with all the staff for morning tea, to say thank you for their hard work.”

At Maranatha Lodge in Batehaven, the staff were treated to basketfuls of chocolates, tim-tams and other treats. The staff also wrote special ‘thank you’ cards to their fellow team members to acknowledge them for their work, with the cards displayed in the staff room.

St Bede's Home celebrations took place in the courtyard with staff organising a BBQ lunch. It was a beautiful sunny day where everyone enjoyed the variety of foods and relaxing music in the background.

The staff had a wonderful time passing on "words of affirmation" to boost the morale of each team member. The staff went home wearing smiles, as they read the beautifully written ‘thank you’ cards from the management team.

Happy Aged Care Employee Day!
