Upskilling Program sees first ever graduates

The Catholic Healthcare HR Learning and Development team is proud to announce that four inaugural Upskilling Program participants have graduated with a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing).

Our first-ever batch of graduates are Debbie-Marie Hanckel, Leanne Spencer and Sheran King (all Community Workers from the Central West) and Frances O’Shea (Community Worker, Mid-North Coast).

Adding to her achievement, Debbie-Marie is a finalist in the Student of the Year category in the NSW Training Awards and will find out in June if she wins her category.

Debbie-Marie said, “I have worked extremely hard to participate in virtual training sessions, submit assessment tasks, actively put new concepts learned into practice, and service Clients even better than before.”

Leanne, who also picked up a Student of the Month ARC Training award said, “I really appreciated the opportunity when it was offered. Being able to complete the certificate in a supported workplace will help me be a better carer.”

Frances added, “I was grateful for the opportunity that built on my skills to better understand the needs of our clients through a model of personalised and facilitated learning.”

The opportunities are made possible through the Upskilling Program, that allows eligible employees training opportunities in Certificates III and IV to access state and federal government training through Registered Training Organisations such as ARC Training.

With 100 Catholic Healthcare employees enrolled in the program, we look forward to celebrating the successes of more graduates soon who will be enriched with additional skills to care for our clients and residents.
