Win A Wish - St Bede's heads to the seas

The residents of St. Bede's Aged Care Home in South Hurstville submitted an entry to Win A Wish together and it said "St. Bede's residents would like to experience an outing on the water for a change. They would like to see the scenery while out in a boat. Something they had all done before. This throwback from the past would surely inspire our residents."

Well that definitely happened when about 35 residents, carers, family and volunteers took to the harbour from Walsh Bay aboard MV Sydney, a boat that previously knew life as a Sydney Harbour ferry.

After boarding, the residents and carers enjoyed morning tea, while heading out under the Harbour Bridge and taking in the views of Circular Quay and the Opera House. It was a bright sunny day with calm seas.

Once they reached Vaucluse, admiring the stunning backdrop of mansions, our group then enjoyed a buffet of delicious hot and cold treats for lunch.

It was then time to play some music for dancing. As the MV Sydney continued around the harbour, guests let go of their inhibitions and had the time of their lives having a boogie.

Before they knew it, it was time to return to Walsh Bay, where their coach waited to return them to St. Bede's.

They definitely left the boat with a spring in their steps. As they wrote to us following the cruise "We set out with great anticipation and we were not disappointed!".
