Volunteer Roles Available

Do you like reading books and talking about them? Are you a musician?
We currently have two opportunities to be a Virtual Visitor to residents living in our Homes, as part of the Community Visitors Scheme.
A Virtual Visitor is needed to regularly visit a resident in a Maroubra Residential Aged Care Home via video call. (Note - we hope to move this visit to face to face when safe to do so.) Our resident loves to read, talk about books and current affairs. The commitment is once a week for an hour over a 6-12 month period. Have fun by talking together about the books you are reading.
We also seek a Virtual Visitor to regularly visit a resident in an Sydney Inner West Aged Care Home via video call. Our resident loves to listen and be surrounded by music. The commitment is once a week for an hour over a 6-12 month period. Have fun, play more and use your musical skills (at whatever level) to bring joy.
Catholic Healthcare volunteers must be over 18 years of age, be willing/have a recent National Police certificate and proof of a 2020 flu shot (prior to doing any face to face volunteering). We provide induction and training. Volunteers need access to a device and internet to virtually visit. For more information on how to apply contact Jo at Catholic Healthcare at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Community Visitor Scheme is a free service that aims to provide friendship and companionship to older people and to help develop social connections for people who become isolated.
