September and October 2019 Hearings
The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety is continuing its work of enquiring into the aged care sector and holding hearings and community forums throughout Australia.
Details of upcoming hearings are as follows:
Melbourne Hearing 1, 9-11 and 13 September
Melbourne Hearing 1 will enquire into younger people in residential aged care, with a focus on impact, drivers and appropriateness of allocation policy as well as how to best support young people wishing to leave residential aged care.
Melbourne Hearing 2, 7-9 and 11 October
Melbourne Hearing 2 will enquire into diversity in aged care, including culturally and linguistically diverse people, LGBTI groups, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, care leavers, veterans, and the homeless or those at risk of homelessness.
Melbourne Hearing 3, 14-18 October
Melbourne Hearing 3 will enquire into the aged care workforce, with a focus on how to enhance capacity and how to make the aged care sector a more attractive and rewarding place to work.
The Royal Commission is expected to deliver its interim report at the end of October 2019. Hearings will continue throughout November and December 2019.
