RESIDENTS at Catholic Healthcare's Gertrude Abbott Aged Care home were treated to a little taste of Mozart yesterday, with a piano recital from renowned pianist and resident Don Maynard.
The one hour performance featured pieces from the great Austrian composer, as well as Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann and Schubert.
Before the music began, Don spoke about the relaxing nature of classical music, his experiences with the piano, and the changes in his life music had benefited.
"The music of Mozart, and the other pieces I'll play, take you on a journey, an escape, it's why I say Mozart fixes everything," he said.
A crowd of more than 60 people turned up to listen to him play, including residents, their families, and Don's own family and friends.
Afternoon tea was also provided at the Surry Hills home, which cares for 100 residents.
