We are all part of the story
24 Jan 2020
This Australia Day we celebrate coming together as a community, whether it’s gathering with family and friends, sharing and respecting the stories of others, or celebrating our nation, our achievements and our people.
At Catholic Healthcare’s St Francis Aged Care in Grafton, a photo wall has been created celebrating the life stories of each resident and staff member.
Deb (pictured above) is St Francis’ Recreational Activities Officer and she has put together maps of the world, Australia, the Clarence Valley region and the town of Grafton to identify where each resident and staff member was born. It’s a celebration of diversity and recognises how Australians come from many nations.
“The residents find the display really fascinating,” says Deb. “Many of them were born locally but our staff come from more diverse backgrounds. We have over 10 countries represented including Australia, the United Kingdom, Philippines, India, Tonga, Italy, The Netherlands and the USA.
“The residents love finding out where everyone is from, how long they have been living in Australia and how they came to live in Grafton.”
If you or a loved one live in the Grafton area, Catholic Healthcare is currently offering up to 28 days complimentary respite residential aged care at St Francis.
