Coming of Age Together

Catholic Healthcare was delighted to sponsor the 52nd Australia Association of Gerontology Conference Coming of Age Together: New ways of knowing and acting held at the International Convention Centre in Sydney.
The three-day conference showcased the latest research from leading experts across the breadth of ageing. Over 700 delegates attended including leading researchers, specialist practitioners in aged care, health, allied health and policy experts.
Catholic Healthcare’s Clinical Chair, Associate Professor Marguerite Bramble RN PhD, presented the work and research she has been conducting at St Catherine’s in Bathurst, together with Recreational Activities Officer John Moran and two St Catherine’s residents.
During their presentation, titled Co-creating and Innovating in Residential Care, the team highlighted three films which the residents, with the support of St Catherine’s employees, have produced.
The films capture ‘change within’ as perceived by residents and exemplify the relationship between creativity and innovations, where creativity is associated with ideas, and innovation is linked to implementation of ideas. Through co-creation, residents and employees adapt creative arts methods to achieve their aspirations.
