Catholic Healthcare’s Southern NSW region has been named the inaugural winner of the organisation’s Home and Community Region of the Year award.

The region was recognised in a ceremony at Bathurst’s St Catherine’s aged care facility yesterday for the exemplary efforts of their staff.

Catholic Healthcare’s Southern NSW region covers the Central West, Riverina, Murray and Southern Highlands regions.

“There was a number of key criteria involved, and our region was lucky enough to be named as the recipient of this award,” Catholic Healthcare Southern NSW regional manager Narelle Pabis said.

Key criteria for the award included high engagement scores from both staff and clients, growth, and low rates of staff and client loss.

“We offer home care packages, specialised hoarding and squalor services and a day to day living program to promote a healthy mind,” Ms Pabis said.

“Our staff have done a fantastic job, and I’m really proud of them.”

Ms Pabis, who is based in Bathurst, said its important for staff to ensure their clients can maintain as independent a lifestyle as possible.

“Everyone’s wish seems to be that they want to stay at home as long as possible, and we offer a range of services that fulfill these wishes,” she said.
