St Vincent’s Auxiliary celebrates 90 years

The St Vincent’s Auxiliary celebrated an impressive ninety years of fundraising support and service to the local Bathurst community since the auxiliary was first established in 1926.

The St Vincent Hospital Auxiliary is a special group of dedicated volunteers who provide a significant service and support to our local nursing and community groups, often sponsoring and hosting fundraising activities to raise much-needed funds for clinical and hospital equipment.

“We are very grateful for their support. Whatever we need for St Vincent’s Outreach Services we receive it because of the hard work and dedication of the auxiliary members”, said Helen Armstrong, Nursing Manager from Catholic Healthcare’s St Vincent’s Outreach Services.

St Vincent’s Hospital opened in November 1922 and the auxiliary group commenced in 1926 and upon hospital closure in 2010 was transferred over to Catholic Healthcare’s St Vincent’s Health and Community Services, Bathurst.

Over the years, the auxiliary group has raised funds for number of patient beds, clinical and wound care equipment and furniture, dietician and nutrition scales plus blood pressure machines.
