Sophistication was at its finest on Friday, 24 November – where operatic tones emanated through the northern Sydney suburb of Lane Cove, thrilling the residents of St Peter’s Aged Care home.

The talented tones of opera singer, Donna Cain reverberated from the grassy peninsula of St Peter’s, complemented by wine, cheese and extravagant appetizers made from the gifted hands of onsite chef, Mario Da Silva and his dedicated catering team.

Joining more than 90 residents of St Peter’s by twilight was Managing Director David Maher, Residential Aged Care Operations Manager, Elaine Whittle and Residential Aged Care Manager, Daniel Brice – among many other representatives from Catholic Healthcare.

Residents and staff were excited to dress up in their finest gowns and suits for the occasion, making the event feel like a true ‘Night out at the Opera’, a feeling that Dan Brice describes as ‘very important’ for residents’ maintenance of a social life.

“The residents really enjoy being social and this event really allowed them to feel their very finest, from the comfort of St Peter’s,” he says.

Enjoying the balmy evening, among the summery squeak of cicadas and of course - theatrical entertainment, residents went as far to say the event was “the highlight of the year”.

“The singing was divine,” describes one resident, while another says, “It was truly like being at the Opera House.”

The team at St Peter’s are extremely pleased with the results of the event and are looking forward to hosting many more entertaining functions in the future.
