Respite care doesn't mean that you are not doing a good enough job or you no longer care for your loved one. You may need to take a break from your caring duties as it can sometimes be stressful and draining, both mentally and physically. A loved one may need extra time to recover after a hospital admission, you may need time to go on a vacation or you may simply need time to yourself to re-energize and rejuvenate. A short break from your caring duties will enable you to come back refreshed and provide the best care for your loved one.
Admission into our free respite care is based on the assessment of the My Aged Care team and based on the clinical assessment of our local Catholic Healthcare teams. Some locations may not have specialised care staff or the resources available to accommodate any specialist care needs your loved ones may require. Our Customer Relations team will be able to help you with details in regards to your needs, you can call them on 1300 151 976.
