Vera's story
Vera is 69 and she has dementia. Since her diagnosis several years ago, Vera has lived with her daughter and her family.
Vera's dementia advanced quickly. Her wandering became more frequent and she was often confused and distressed. While her daughter wanted to continue caring for her, she realised her mother needed a greater level of care.
Vera recently moved into a dementia-specific residential aged care community. Vera's family believe the gentle exercises and daily activities organised by the Recreational office have significantly benefited their mother. They've seen an improvement in her mood, well-being and alertness.
