Mercy Arms Community Care
Mercy Arms Community Care, a service of Catholic Healthcare, was established in 1991 to serve community clients, particularly marginalised people in the Redfern/Waterloo area.
Today, Mercy Arms Community Care has more than 1,000 clients in Sydney; in the Local Government Areas of Ashfield, Botany, Burwood, Canada Bay, City of Sydney, Hurstville, Kogarah, Leichhardt, Marrickville, Randwick, Rockdale, Waverley and Woollahra.
Mercy Arms Community Care offers the following services:
Community Aged Care Packages - Planned and coordinated care services to help older people with complex needs remain in their own homes.
Extended Aged Care at Home - Comprehensive nursing and in-home care to assist frail older people with high level needs to remain living at home.
Community Options - Comprehensive case management and brokerage for people who have complex and multiple needs, with priority given to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Assistance with Care and Housing for the Aged - Assists low-income older people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, to remain living in the community.
Home Support - Domestic assistance (housework, shopping, meal preparation, etc.) and personal care (showering, toileting, etc.) for frail older people, people with a disability and their carers.
Home Respite - Individual in-home respite services for carers of frail older people or people with dementia.
Community Connections Day Centre - Recreational and social activities for marginalised older people to alleviate isolation, develop living skills and improve health and well-being.
Community Visitors scheme - Recruits, trains and supports volunteers to visit and befriend isolated and lonely residents in residential aged care (nursing homes and hostels).
