Comprising a 30-bed sub-acute rehabilitation hospital, community services and outreach services, Lourdes Hospital & Community Health Service is a public health service operated by Catholic Healthcare on behalf of the New South Wales Government. Friday 14 March 2008 marked the Golden Jubilee of Lourdes Hospital celebrating 50 years of service to the community of Dubbo.
An out-patient rehabilitation centre, respite and dementia care services, community nursing services, community services and a 64-place residential aged care service is co-located with Lourdes Hospital's 30 bed in-patient health care facility. The aged and community services are primarily funded by the Australian Government.
Lourdes is an integral part of the health precinct for Dubbo and the Western region which comprises public and private hospitals, residential and community aged care services, the Dubbo Clinical School and nurse training facilities at Charles Sturt University.
A fully accredited hospital, Lourdes provides 30 beds and offers inpatient services for Rehabilitation, Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) and Palliative Care.
Lourdes' services and programs are diverse and supplement many of the health and community services available in the Greater Western Area Health Service (GWAHS) and the Far West Area Health Service (FWAHS). Of the population in greater west of NSW, approximately 13% are 65 years and over.
Managed by Catholic Healthcare, Lourdes Hospital & Community Services comprises a Third Schedule Public Hospital, which is subsidised by the New South Wales Government through the Department of Health, and a comprehensive Community and Outreach Service, which is funded primarily by the Australian Government.
