Dementia Support
I need help caring for someone with dementia
Catholic Healthcare appreciates that caring for someone with dementia is challenging, tiring and often difficult. We believe that taking a regular break from your caring role is very important, not only for you, but for the person you are caring for.
Many of our community services are aimed at helping support carers. We provide a range of day services and overnight respite. Offered in a friendly, homelike setting, our day and overnight respite services offer dementia clients a range of activities and outings that are designed to support and encourage social interaction and mental stimulation.
Whether it's just for a few hours in the day or an overnight stay, carers can be confident that the person receiving care is being well looked after by our qualified, trained staff.
You can call one of our community services below to find out how we can support you in your caring role. Alternatively, you can visit the services' web page for more information and brochures.
Supporting younger dementia clients
Catholic Healthcare's Younger Onset Dementia program in Sydney aims to provide clients under the age of 65 with a flexible and individualised social program. With one-to-one support from a care worker or a volunteer, the program encourages participation in community social activities. The Younger Onset Dementia program is an initiative that provides a day centre service once a week. This day service offers younger clients with dementia a chance to mix with others in a similar situation and enjoy activities such as the theatre, movies, bushwalks, sailing and other sporting activities. Many clients participating in this program have experienced significant benefits.
