Care Philosophy
Nurturing life
Catholic Healthcare serves many diverse groups and individuals including people living in their homes, patients in hospitals, residents living in supported care and, of course, our staff.
- Nurture the life of each person
- Enrich the life of each person by a spirit that is welcoming, affirming and enabling.
The richness of life
Life is for living, at every age and stage of our journey. The Christian tradition recognises the dignity of each person and sees the glory of the Lord fully alive in the human spirit.
The Christian tradition firmly believes in the basic goodness of each and every person. To understand our humanity and its evolution, we need to appreciate the richness of being human and our physical, intellectual, emotional, sexual and spiritual needs.
The journey of life makes us who we are. There is a simplicity about this, but there is also complexity. Each person's journey is unique and some people need guidance along the way. We seek to nurture the life of each individual within our facilities and services, and strive to comprehend the person in a dynamic sense.
The spiritual aspect of care is central to our mission. Spirituality is that part of the person where the search for meaning takes place. It is broader than religion, but may be inclusive of religion. Particularly in healthcare and aged care, spirituality is about making sense of life for each person in the here and now.
Our mission is to share hope, share the meaning of our work, be good stewards and promote life in a collaborative manner.
