Audrey's Gift

Catholic Healthcare's St Augustine's Aged Care in Coffs Harbour recently received a generous bequest from Audrey, a former resident of the service.

In wanting to honour Audrey's life and acknowledge her love of the gardens at St Augustine's, Catholic Healthcare has dedicated Audrey's unconditional gift to improving the outdoor and garden area for the St Augustine's residents – a project which had been discussed but was unfunded.

“When we received news of this wonderful gift from Audrey's estate, we felt the best way to honour her memory was to create an inviting and covered outdoor area where residents could enjoy the pleasant temperate climate of Coffs Harbour,” says Sandi Page, Director of Care.

Audrey's gift has transformed the outdoor area at the back of St Augustine's. Through Audrey's generosity, the outdoor area now boasts an inviting patio area with comfortable garden furniture. With the balance of Audrey's estate, there are plans to further enhance the outdoor area with a toughened glass fence that will provide shelter from the sea breeze and the gardens will also undergo a makeover. On completion of the work, a plaque will be presented to Audrey's family and erected in her honour.

“The residents, staff and families of St Augustine's are all very grateful – Audrey's generous gift has made a real difference to the lives of our residents,” added Sandi.
